Kalima are minor characters who appears in Mortal Kombat 1, appearing in Johnny Cage's Chapter as a reskin of Nitara. They serve as minions to Katara Vala, the titular main antagonist of the fictional film, Temple of Katara Vala.
Mortal Kombat 1
When pursuing the ancient shield of Katara Vala, the Tomb Raider and his friend Adam plan to detonate explosives on a stone pillar to get and retrieve the shield. Their movements, however awaken the Kalima and they attack to stop them from getting the shield. While Adam primes the explosives, the Tomb Raider fends off the approaching Kalima. Once they make it to the other side of the liquid mercury river, they retrieve the shield but awaken Katara Vala, causing Adam to fall into the river and die. The Kalima assist Katara in his fight with the Tomb Raider but are defeated alongside their master.
Trivia
- As with many reskinned non-playable characters in the Story Mode, the Kalima is a reskin of Nitara, and as such uses her assets for gameplay purposes.
