The Xenomorph, also referred to simply as the Alien or scientifically as Xenomorph XX121, is an endoparasitoid extraterrestrial organism known for its appearance in the Alien science-fiction horror film series. Recognized by its difference as an animalistic parasite in the science-fiction genre, the Xenomorph has helped establish the Alien franchise as one of the greatest and most recognized franchises in cinema history.

The Xenomorph made its debut as a playable guest character in Mortal Kombat X through DLC as part of the Kombat Pack 2.

About the Xenomorph

The Xenomorph is the primary antagonistic species of both its origin franchise and the shared Aliens vs. Predator franchise. In the first and third films respectively, a lone Xenomorph serves as the primary antagonist, while in the second and fourth film, a hive of multiple Xenomorphs serve as the antagonistic catalyst for the story. While absent in the fifth film, Prometheus, a larger, modified version called a Praetomorph appears alongside a subspecies called the Neomorphs in its sequel Alien: Covenant.

One of, if not the most iconic features of the Xenomorph is its life cycle. Acting as a sort of parasitic organism that requires a host to grow, it starts out in an egg, or Ovomorph, that hatches into a Facehugger that will then attach itself to a host. Impregnating the host with an embryo, the Facehugger then dies and the Xenomorph, in this stage called a Chestburster, erupts from the host's chest and grows into adulthood. The uniqueness of this process is that the Xenomorph takes on traits based on the host. This is seen in the third film, ALIEN³, with the Alien being born from a dog, or ox, and in Alien vs. Predator after a Xenomorph is born from a Predator in the film's ending, called a Predalien. Mortal Kombat X also follows this by producing the first Tarkatan-born Xenomorph exclusive to the Mortal Kombat series.

The Xenomorph species also differs in the size and the headcrest. The largest Xenomorph is the Queen, which produces a Hive. The second largest is the Praetorian, the Royal Guards of the Queen. The Drones are the standard Xenomorph, but as stated before, differ based on the headcrest, with a standard Drone having a smooth, cylinder tube-like head, while the Warriors have more of a ridged or spiked head. Xenomorphs can also change depending on the status of the Hive, with Drones or Warriors molting into a Praetorian and if needed, a Praetorian will molt into a new Queen to continue or construct a new Hive, should the previous Queen die.

Xenomorphs are considered the ultimate prey by the Yautja, or Predators, where only the most skilled Hunters choose to hunt them. Xenomorphs have been known to have Predator hosts, creating the Predalien. Larger than a Predator and about the size of a Praetorian, they are a deadly combination of the two species, possessing many features of its host species. Many have been depicted in the comics and video games, however only one has been seen on film, serving as the main antagonist of Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem.

The Xenomorph has appeared in other media including other video games, literature and comics, including the comic series Aliens vs. Predator, which originated the two species' iconic rivalry. Other crossovers feature Aliens battling famous comic book characters such as Batman, Superman, Green Lantern and Judge Dredd alongside others.

Appearance

The Xenomorph's appearance takes inspiration from its origin franchise. While appearing visually similar to the Xenomorph from the first film, Alien, the Xenomorph's appearance is altered due to it having a Tarkatan host instead of a human, most notably a shorter tubed head, shorter dorsal tubes on its back, a large set of razor-sharp teeth and a much more muscular and bulkier frame. Another noticeable difference is the segmented blades in its forearms due to the traits it inherits from its Tarkatan host. Depending on the variation selected, the Alien's headcrest and characteristics change based on the subclasses of its species from its origin franchise across other media.

The Xenomorph's primary appearance is that of a standard Drone, with its headcrest having a pure black colored dome with no additional details. Selecting the Xenomorph's alternate colors change its entire body to a lighter color of grey, however the headcrest remains the same in its variationless form and its other variations.

When selecting the Acidic Variation, the headcrest becomes smooth and grey with details visible on the inside. Additionally, its acidic blood oozes from the tip of its bladed tail during a fight.

When selecting the Konjurer Variation, the headcrest changes greatly, resembling that of a Queen or a Praetorian, given the variation's ability to call other Xenomorphs to assist the Tarkatan Xenomorph during kombat and summon Ovomorphs on the fightline.

When selecting the Tarkatan Variation, the headcrest changes to that of a Drone seen in the second film and the Alien vs. Predator films and media. This variation also utilizes the Tarkatan Blades much more than any other variation, referencing the aggressive nature of the Drones from its origin franchise.

Biography

• Mortal Kombat X: The Xenomorphs had descended on Outworld long ago, but the dormant eggs they left behind were only recently found. The leader of the Tarkatan patrol had picked up one of the leathery orbs, only to have it burst open and its occupant latch itself to his face. Later, after the "facehugger" had fallen off, the Alien progeny burst from the unfortunate Tarkatan's chest, bearing characteristics of both Xenomorph and host. It eluded the rest of the Tarkatan soldiers and eventually killed them. The creature now roams Outworld, looking for more hosts. Its amazing strength and animal fury make the Alien almost unstoppable.

Combat Characteristics

Powers and Abilities

Xenomorphs are structurally superior to most other lifeforms. They possess great strength, speed and agility, the ability to stick to walls, a cunning intelligence, and most notably, highly corrosive blood, giving them an incredible defense mechanism. This blood can eat and dissolve any material it makes contact with, similar to hydrofluoric acid. Once it makes contact with a material, it can cause significant damage to both organisms and structures. However, it has no harmful effect on the Xenomorphs themselves. The Xenomorphs are also extremely knowledgeable of their acidic blood and will even use it to assist them when needed. These traits have led many to identify the species as the "perfect organism." Because of this, many humans have attempted to try to control and use them for their own personal gain, usually for military weapons, however, this has resulted in catastrophic and very fatal circumstances.

The Tarkatan-born Xenomorph retains all of these traits as well as a new feature; segmented blades located in sheathe-like appendages on its forearms. These blades are used to rip, slice and impale targets. As with every Xenomorph, this specimen also has an "inner jaw" which it can shoot out of its mouth at great speeds, capable of effortlessly punching a hole though tissue and bone.

Signature Moves

• Tail Flip: The Xenomorph curls into a ball, rolling in the air and lands on the opponent with its tail, knocking them down. This attack can be performed in the air, called Air Tail Flip, respectively. (MKX)
  • The enhanced version is called Tail Slam, which makes the opponent bounce, allowing for a juggle. It deals no extra damage. The airborne version is called Air Tail Slam, respectively, and has the same effect and no additional damage.
• Xeno Strike: The Xenomorph leaps into the air quickly and pounces onto the opponent, clawing them three times before biting them in the shoulder before hopping off of them. In the Tarkatan variation, the Xenomorph will use its arm-blades to attack the opponent instead, though the damage output is the same (See Below). This attack is capable of striking airborne opponents, whether this being from a combo or the opponent jumping at the Xenomorph. (MKX)
  • The enhanced version is called Xeno Pounce, granting Armor and has the Xenomorph impale the downed opponent with its arm-blades to slide them across the ground, away from the Xenomorph for increased damage. It will do this regardless of the variation selected. Additionally, the attack's hitbox increases, allowing it to strike the opponent during combos it otherwise would not connect in with Xeno Strike.
• Tail Snag: The Xenomorph wraps its tail around the opponent's ankles, pulls, and trips the opponent, knocking them off their feet. (MKX)
  • The enhanced version is called Tail Grab, granting Armor and has the Xenomorph impale the opponent's gut with its tail, lift them up, and throw them away after tripping them for increased damage.
• Low Krawl: The Xenomorph quickly crawls across the ground, running into the opponent to deal damage. When successfully landing the attack, the Xenomorph swaps sides with the opponent and will create space between it and the opponent. Additionally, the Xenomorph can avoid projectiles and High attacks when timed correctly. If the Xenomorph is hit right as slides into the opponent, there is a chance the opponent will be affected by hitstun, allowing the Xenomorph to attack the opponent as if they were stunned by the attack.   • The enhanced version is called Quick Dash, which deals increased damage and has the Xenomorph crawl right next to the opponent on the opposite side instead of crawling away, stunning them and setting them up for a free hit. The attack re-stands the opponent due to the stun effect.
• Exo Sting: Using its acidic blood-oozing tail, the Xenomorph flings acid onto the opponent, which causes damage-over-time if it successfully hits. If the attack misses, it creates a very brief patch of acid on the ground, which the opponent will take damage-over-time if they step on it. The attack can be used at different ranges, called Close/Far Exo Sting, respectively. Additionally, it can be performed in the air but not at different ranges, called Air Exo Sting, respectively. The attack's damage-over-time effect can stack up to three times. When used in the corner of an arena and utilized with juggle effects, the Xenomorph is capable of continuing combos. Connecting or being struck by an X-Ray attack ends the damage-over-time effects prematurely. (MKX - Acidic Variation)
  • The enhanced versions are called Exo Splash, in which the Xenomorph shoots two acid sprays instead of one for increased damage-over-time damage as it applies two more. The enhanced version no longer has a range option and can be performed in the air, called Air Exo Splash, respectively. The Xenomorph is also more safe when this version of the attack is blocked by the opponent.
• Acid Blood: The Xenomorph claws at its dome, creating a puddle of acidic blood on the floor. If the opponent stands in the puddle, they will take damage-over-time. The attack also prevents the opponent from sprinting if they walk over the puddle. Additionally, if the Xenomorph's acid blood makes contact with the opponent, they will be affected by a damage-over-time effect. Doing this will also re-stand the opponent when used on them when they are in the air. The Xenomorph loses 3% of its health every time it uses this attack. The attack's damage-over-time effect can stack twice. Connecting or being struck by an X-Ray attack ends the damage-over-time effects prematurely. (MKX - Acidic Variation)
  • The enhanced version is called Erosive Blood, which has the Xenomorph claw at its chest after it claws its dome, causing heaps of acid blood to gush out onto the floor. The Xenomorph loses the same amount of health during the enhanced version and retains the same properties. The Xenomorph recovers much faster than the opponent when connecting this version of the attack. When blocked by the opponent, this attack creates massive pushback.
• Ovomorph: The Xenomorph summons an Ovomorph on the fightline. If the opponent walks within the egg's radius, a facehugger will jump out and latch onto the opponent, setting them up for a free hit. Inputting the attack's command while the opponent is outside the egg's radius makes the facehugger come out to attack the opponent with the same stun effect. If the Xenomorph does not attack the opponent when the facehugger successfully latches on the them, the opponent will be affected by a hard knockdown effect, allowing the Xenomorph to recover much faster than the opponent, however the Xenomorph cannot deal any damage nor do any other effect to the opponent until they stand back up. The attack can be used at different ranges, called Close/Far Ovomorph, respectively. (MKX - Konjurer Variation)
  • The enhanced versions are called Advanced Ovomorph, which spawns the egg slightly faster. The egg also has a much larger radius, covering almost half the arena. The enhanced version retains stun effects. Like the original, the attack can be used at different ranges, called Close/Far Advanced Ovomorph, respectively.
• Drone Drop: The Xenomorph roars loudly, which summons another Xenomorph Drone that jumps onto the opponent from above, knocking them down. The attack can be used at different ranges, called Close/Far Drone Drop, respectively. The Xenomorph can only call for a Drone to strike the opponent once the previous Drone has left the arena. (MKX - Konjurer Variation)
  • The enhanced versions are called Drone Slam, which deals increased damage and bounces the opponent off the ground, allowing a juggle. The enhanced version has the same ranged options as the original, called Close/Far Drone Slam, respectively. Additionally, the attack can be delayed when enhanced, allowing the Xenomorph to attack the opponent before the Drone lands on the opponent in some instances.
• Tarkatan Rush: The Xenomorph uses its Tarkatan Blades to slash the opponent. The special attack has follow-up attacks to continue into a combo if inputted correctly; (MKX - Tarkatan Variation)
  • Straight Slice: After the initial slash, the Xenomorph then stabs the opponent. Should the Xenomorph strike the opponent and not continue with the follow-up attacks, the Xenomorph recovers significantly faster than the opponent. This attack is required in order to continue Tarkatan Rush and finish with three of the following attacks:
    • Painful Slam: The Xenomorph jumps up and slams its claws against the opponent's shoulder as an overhead, knocking them to the ground.
    • Blade Sweep: The Xenomorph uses its blades to sweep the opponent's legs as a low, knocking them off their feet.
    • Nail and Impale: The Xenomorph stabs its opponent with both arm blades, lifting and hissing at the opponent before slamming them on the ground.
      • Nail and Impale can be enhanced, which has the Xenomorph bounce the opponent off the ground for extended combos. This deals little to no extra damage.
  • The enhanced version is called Tarkatan Fury, which deals increased damage and has Armor. The Alien can also delay each upcoming attack if the enhanced version is used.
• Chop Chop: Using its Tarkatan Blades, the Xenomorph spins its arms around in a helicopter-esque fashion to slash the opponent 8 times rapidly, dealing damage, similar to its Tarkatan host. If the attack is blocked, the Xenomorph only slashes twice, but only deals damage with one slash. The attack is offered an extremely brief moment of an additional attack. This opportunity is greatly increased when used in the corner of an arena. This attack is capable of striking airborne opponents, whether this being from a combo or the opponent jumping at the Xenomorph. (MKX - Tarkatan Variation)
  • The enhanced version is called Chop Chop Shop, in which at the end, the Xenomorph impales the opponent in the gut with its tail, then throws them away, dealing increased damage. It also allows the player to throw the opponent in the opposite direction. The Xenomorph cannot combo off of the enhanced version unlike with Chop Chop. The attack has the same result when blocked like with the original. The final tail strike is not affected by damage scaling, and will always deal 3% damage, regardless of the combo used on the opponent.
• Blade Spin: The Xenomorph spins, slashing the opponent with its arm blades, similar to its Tarkatan host, and then trips the opponent with its tail right after. (MKX - Tarkatan Variation)
  • The enhanced version is called Spinner, which, instead of the Xenomorph sweeping the opponent, it uses its tail to slam on top of the opponent's head, bouncing them off the ground for a juggle. Similar to Tail Slam, this version of the attack deals no extra damage.

X-Ray

• Survival: The Xenomorph stabs the opponent with its arm blades, then immediately stabs the opponent repeatedly in the chest with its tail, breaking their ribs. The final stab has the Xenomorph impale the opponent's chest, then immediately flips the opponent over in the opposite direction onto their face, breaking their jaw. The Xenomorph then crawls over and bites the downed opponent in the back of the head with its inner jaw, puncturing a hole in the back of their skull.

Other Moves

• Throw: The Xenomorph grabs its opponent and bites them on the neck. It then uses its tail to stab its opponent through the jaw, then it throws them away. (MKX)
• Bladed Sting: The Xenomorph stabs its tail in an upward, diagonal fashion to strike the opponent's head. This attack is capable of hitting opponents in the air, whether this being from a combo or the opponent jumping at the Xenomorph. (MKX)
• Xeno Krush: The Xenomorph pounces forward, clawing at the opponent and bouncing them off the ground for a juggle. (MKX)
• Acidic Blood: While in the Acidic Variation, some of the Xenomorph's basic attacks gain acid shooting properties, when they successfully hit, the opponent will take minor damage-over-time. These effects can stack on the opponent up to three times to inflict multiple effects. Additionally, Bladed Sting is replaced with Sizzle Strike and its juggle and anti-air effects change due to causing damage-over-time. Connecting or being struck by an X-Ray attack ends these damage-over-time effects prematurely. (MKX - Acidic Variation)
• Tarkatan Blades: While in the Tarkatan Variation, some of the Xenomorph's basic attacks as well as a combo are altered using its Tarkatan arm-blades, increasing the range of these attacks and combo as compared to their original versions. Additionally, Xeno Krush is replaced with Blade Krush, however the damage output is the same. If the Xenomorph performs Jumping Punch attacks, performing Blade Krush after results in a Xeno Krush being performed instead. Furthermore, the Xenomorph uses its blades when connecting Xeno Strike, however the damage output is the same. (MKX - Tarkatan Variation)

Fatalities

• Killer Queen: The Xenomorph crouches down and screeches at the opponent and the screen fades to black for a moment. The opponent is suddenly impaled through the chest by a Xenomorph Queen's tail. The Queen moves in closer and puts her hands on the opponent's shoulders while simultaneously stabbing her tail even further through the chest. Then finally, after snarling, the Queen completely tears the opponent in half, leaving both the upper body and lower body to fall on the ground. (MKX)
• Deadly Hybrid: The Xenomorph extends its blades, and stabs the opponent in the kidney area, lifting them up in a similar fashion to Baraka's Blade Lift Fatality. The Xenomorph then uses its inner jaw to impale the opponent's head, before dropping their body onto the ground. (MKX)

Brutalities

• Slash and Bash: The Xenomorph performs a Tail Grab that rips off the opponent's legs as it trips them. It then impaling them in the stomach with its tail before tossing their lifeless body away. (MKX)
• Little Head: The Xenomorph performs its Throw, biting the opponent an additional time, before impaling them through the mouth with its inner jaw. (MKX)
• Acid Burn: The Xenomorph performs either an Air Exo Sting or Air Exo Splash that melts the opponent's face off. (MKX - Acidic Variation)
• Alien Baby: The Xenomorph performs either an Ovomorph or Advanced Ovomorph, with a Chestburster erupting from the opponent's chest after they collapse on the ground. (MKX - Konjurer Variation)

Ending

• Mortal Kombat X: "The Alien tore through Shinnok's flesh, reducing him to a bloody pulp. The creature then returned to its nest in Outworld. It continued to venture forth looking for suitable hosts for use in establishing a new hive. The Alien found more than a few intriguing species and dragged them back to its lair. Once a queen had been spawned, the Alien's new hive multiplied quickly and spread unchecked throughout the realm. Emperor Kotal Kahn attempted to save Outworld in a desperate final attack on the Aliens' main nesting ground. The attack failed. Outworld belonged to the Aliens."

Trivia

General

• The Xenomorph is the second science-fiction horror guest character, and overall the fourth horror movie guest character to appear in the Mortal Kombat series.
• The Xenomorph has the distinction of being the only playable character in Mortal Kombat history to be purely animalistic, in that it only has sentience and not fully intact sapience unlike characters such as Reptile, Moloch, or the Predator.
  • This is further shown by its vocal sound design, the method of which it reproduces, and how its social groups interact.
• The Xenomorph is the second extraterrestrial guest character in the series, and the fourth overall extraterrestrial featured in the series.
• The Xenomorph is the fourth guest character in the series to be alive rather than undead.
• The Xenomorph, in a technical sense, is the third Tarkatan that is playable in the series, the first being Baraka and the second Mileena who both debuted in Mortal Kombat II. However, unlike the latter, the Alien is non-canon.
  • The Alien is also the second playable Tarkatan that is not a purebred Tarkatan like Baraka, instead, it is a genetic hybrid; a Xenomorph born from a Tarkatan. The first was Mileena, who was a genetic experiment created by Shang Tsung.
• The manner in which the Xenomorph Queen stabs through the opponent and tears them in half in the Xenomorph's Killer Queen Fatality is directly referencing the method in which a Xenomorph Queen dispatched the android Bishop in Aliens.
  • It is the only Fatality in Mortal Kombat X which an outside source is killing the opponent rather than the kombatant itself, similar to Stage Fatalities done throughout the series.
• While its Acidic and Tarkatan crest represent the Warriors and the Drones seen in the Alien film franchise, the Konjurer crest, which represents the Royal Guards of the Xenomorph Queen known as the Praetorian, has yet to be seen in the movies.
  • Interestingly, if a Queen dies, a Praetorian can take over as a new Queen, which can be why the Konjurer variation can spawn eggs and call in Drones for support, although this could be more towards the Queen nature rather than the Praetorian nature.

Mortal Kombat X

• With the release of Mortal Kombat XL, in a technical sense, the Xenomorph is the second playable Tarkatan featured in the game, the first being Mileena.
• While some characters, like Raiden and Bo' Rai Cho, who clearly notice its Tarkatan traits during interactions with the Alien, Mileena seems to be completely unaware of them.
• The Xenomorph is the second extraterrestrial character featured in the game, the first being its rival and fellow guest character, the Predator.
• Interestingly, when the player chooses any of the Xenomorph's variations except for the Tarkatan variation, the Xenomorph's play style fits that of a regular Xenomorph from the movies; crawling, pouncing, tail attacks, etc. But when its Tarkatan variation is selected, many of its basic attacks alter in place for the Tarkatan arm blades, resembling more of its Tarkatan host.
• The Xenomorph's blood, while highly corrosive in its origin franchise, is not in-game with the exception of the Acidic Variation. This is merely done for gameplay purposes, as any blood splattered on the opponent would severely wound or even kill them in the process.
• When the Xenomorph uses its Acid Blood attack consecutively or many times, the Xenomorph's chest will be visibly damaged in a similar manner to taking too much damage from the opponent during a fight.
• Many of the Xenomorph's combo names are references to the first two movies of the franchise:
  • Kombos Here Kitty, Kitty, Lucky Star, Narcissus, Zeta II, Special Orders, Kane's Son, Warning Beacon, S.O.S. and Break Quarantine are all references to the first movie Alien whilst the combo Bug Hunt is a reference to the second, Aliens.
• A Shokan Xenomorph can be seen during its ending, with Goro seen hanging behind the Xenomorph. There is also a pair of Xenomorphs that appear to have been birthed from Ferra & Torr.
• When the Predator performs his Skinned Alive Brutality on the Xenomorph, it will be decapitated instead due to its exoskeleton. This is also a reference to their shared universe where it is common for the Yautja to claim the head or skull of a Xenomorph, whom they consider the ultimate prey.
  • Additionally, the Predator can never perform the alternate version of his Skinned Alive Brutality on the Xenomorph.
• When Cassie Cage performs her Pop Goes Brutality on the Xenomorph, its inner jaw will pop out of its mouth due to it lacking actual eyeballs.
• When the Xenomorph wins a match without a Fatality or Brutality, it walks up to the screen, which then goes to black. The opponent is shown trapped and bound in a Xenomorph hive, grunting in pain before a newly-born Xenomorph bursts through their chest, killing them. This makes the Xenomorph one of three characters in Mortal Kombat X who will always kill the opponent after a match, the others being Corrupted Shinnok and the Predator.
• Depending on the opponent, the Chestburster that appears post-match Outro or in the Alien Baby Brutality may take on a different appearance from its standard form depending on the opponent. With this, the Xenomorph has the most alternate versions of a Brutality than any character in the game.
  • When used on the Predator, the Chestburster is a Predalien from the Alien vs. Predator crossover franchise.
  • When used on Tremor, the Chestburster is not covered in blood and has rock-like skin.
  • When used on another Xenomorph in a Mirror Match and Mileena, the Chestburster has a Takartan's large fangs and little cheek spikes, and spikes on its sides.
  • When performing the Alien Baby Brutality on Jason Voorhees, the Chestburster will erupt wearing Jason's hockey mask. This does not happen in the Xenomorph's post-match Outro.
  • When performing the Alien Baby Brutality on Triborg or Raiden, the resulting Chestburster will be wreathed in electricity. As with Jason, this does not occur in the Xenomorph's post-match-Outro.
  • Most of the MKX roster will have a special Chestburster coming out of them, like Johnny Cage's with sunglasses, Kung Lao's with his hat, and Sub-Zero with his ice mask. This only occurs in the Alien Baby Brutality.
• While the Xenomorph is hermaphroditic, the announcer will still tell its opponent to "Finish Him" when it's defeated.
• It is called "Xenomorph" only by Shinnok.
  • Many of the characters will refer to it as "Alien". This may just be instinct as none of them assume it could be from another realm such as Outworld or the Netherrealm.
  • It is also referred to as Alien by the announcer and also in its Character Bio and Arcade Ending.
• The Xenomorph is the only character, if Ferra/Torr and Triborg are excluded, who has a secondary source support it during its fatality.
  • As the Xenomorph shown is of Tarkatan decent, the Queen during the Killer Queen Fatality is a regular Xenomorph Queen, meaning it itself doesn't perform the Fatality.
• The Xenomorph is one of five characters whose voice will not be mimicked by the Predator, instead the Predator will do his signature laugh. The other four being Jason, Triborg, Leatherface, and the Predator in a mirror match.
• When the Xenomorph performs the Brutality, The Slicer, it will stab the opponent in the chest and throw them away after using Chop Chop regardless if it uses the enhanced version or not. This makes the Xenomorph one of three characters to perform an enhanced special without actually using said enhanced special. The other two are Jason and Goro.
• The Xenomorph is one of four characters to have a unique chestburster during the Xenomorph's Outro after a match. The other three are the Predator, Tremor, and Mileena. However, it shares the same chestburster with Mileena.
• A glitch that was corrected shortly after its discovery, should the Xenomorph pounce Kung Lao with Xeno Strike or attack him with certain attacks as he lost his hat, Kung Lao's hat would never return, thus causing significant glitches to occur during gameplay;
  • Kung Lao would kill the Xenomorph with an invisible hat during all his Fatalities.
  • Kung Lao could perform special attacks but not certain combos involving his hat.
    • The hat would briefly reappear for these specials attack but would not return to Kung Lao.
    • Occasionally, when too close to the Xenomorph, the hat-related special attacks would not deal damage nor do anything to the Xenomorph.
  • Winning a round would glitch the camera for whatever fighter win in between rounds before correctly adjusting itself.
  • Kung Lao would perform either version of his Uppercut, however when performing his hat-based Uppercut, the Xenomorph would not take any damage nor would it be affected by the attack.

Mortal Kombat Mobile

• The Xenomorph, alongside the Predator and Ferra & Torr are the only Mortal Kombat X characters to not appear in the Mortal Kombat Mobile at all, making them PC and console exclusive characters.

Mortal Kombat 1

• In the Story Mode, Johnny references an iconic scene from the second film, Aliens, when he, Kenshi, and Kung Lao attempt to save Mileena from Shang Tsung.

Errors

• Previewing the Xenomorph's taunt shows its inner jaw clips through its teeth a well as its head and chest clipping into its back.
• During gameplay, the Xenomorph's crest will always clip though its shoulder.
• Performing its Round Win Taunt causes its head to clip into its back.
• Its lower jaw clips through its neck during some Fatalities.
• The Xenomorph's head will clip through the ground when falling over from Fatalities and Brutalities.
• Due to the length of its cranium, the Xenomorph is illogically scalped during the Predator's Ghostin' Us Fatality.
• The Xenomorph's tail will incorrectly split in half during some Fatalities and Brutalities.
• An error present with some characters with damage-over-time effects, in the Acidic Variation, defeating an opponent with the Xenomorph's damage-over-time effects will incorrectly show the opponent with about 1% health remaining during the Dizzy Fatality sequence.
• The Xenomorph's Chop Chop has an oversized hitbox, allowing it to hit opponent that completely jump over the Xenomorph. This can also result in the opponent being shredded behind the Xenomorph before teleporting in front of it during its The Slicer Brutality.
• The Xenomorph will audibly roar after Brutalities despite its mouth not being open.
• The Xenomorph Queen lacks her additional smaller arms on her chest during the Xenomorph's Killer Queen Fatality, as the Queen seen uses the Tarkatan Xenomorph's body model. Her smaller arms are present during the Xenomorph's Arcade Ending, however.
• The Xenomorph's Acid Blood attack can miss on airborne opponents in the corner despite the attack hitting them, although the damage-over-time effect is still applied.
• The Chestburster from its Alien Baby Brutality clips through the side of the opponent just before it jumps out of the opponent's chest cavity.
• The Drones summoned from Drone Drop share the same model as the Xenomorph, which incorrectly creates Tarkatan Xenomorphs rather than standard Drones.
• The facehugger from the Xenomorph's Ovomorph does not cover the Xenomorph's mouth during a mirror match.
